Gareth Johnston

Gareth Johnston is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation.   He joined Lisney in 1994, was appointed Director in 2001 and Managing Director in January 2023. He is also an accredited RICS Registered Valuer.

Specialising in Commercial Valuation and Lease Advisory services in Belfast he has nearly 30 year’s experience leading an experienced Valuation team.  He has extensive specialist knowledge of the local market preparing commercial property valuations for both secured bank lending and company accounts purposes, valuing across all sectors from residential development sites to shopping centres, from prime office blocks and manufacturing sites to hotels.

He also specialises in Rent Review and Lease Renewal representation for commercial landlords and tenants and has served as Expert Witness in Arbitrations at the Lands Tribunal for NI and has been appointed to act as Valuation Expert at Public Enquiry.  Instructed as Rating Consultant, he has secured significant rates cost savings for both occupiers and landlords on appeals and tone challenges on several Shopping Centres, Outlet Parks, and particularly in the industrial and hotel sectors.

His broad loyal client base ranges from all the major lenders active in the local market, to multi-national companies, from local corporates to consultancy firms and private individuals.   He has also served as an Assessor for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and as a guest speaker for the RICS at industry events on many occasions.
