Driveway and Entrance
– Forged steel, galvanized, and painted double electric gates are hung on limestone piers. Between both sets of electric gates runs a cobbled block driveway lined with mature trees and cast iron-painted Victorian lanterns.
– Before you enter the house, a 2-meter-high limestone wall secures it, with steel railings on limestone capping at the second set of electric gates.
– The yard in front of the house is cobbled with sandstone laid in a circle around a 3-tiered ornate sandstone fountain, while all the other paths around the house are laid in cream and mint Indian sandstone.
– There are 22 Victorian cast iron lanterns along the driveway and around the garden and footpaths.
Garden
– There are 3 acres of landscaped and manicured gardens with mature trees such as blue cypress, spruce, weeping willow, mountain ash, Douglas fir, evergreen oak, hazel, ash, cherry, birch, and more.
– Box hedging surrounds rose beds containing over 150 rose bushes.
– A raised circular limestone flower bed is in the centre of the garden footpaths, featuring a magnolia tree in the centre. Around the magnolia tree, roses and lavender are planted to attract wild bees and butterflies.
– There is a large pond at the back of the house, home to a family of resident water hens and mallard ducks that visit the pond every night for shelter.
– The pond is oxygenated with water lilies and other aquatic plants, so algae is never a problem.
– A black cobblestone-clad steel bridge crosses the pond, allowing the paths to interconnect over the 3 acres of gardens.
– At the back of the garden, facing the pond and house, is a limestone-built BBQ and gazebo on a circular mint sandstone patio.
– Beside the outdoor BBQ, a Finnish BBQ hut seats 12 people comfortably. The hut is wired for lights and has double-glazed windows and a door with a shingle roof. The hut can also be used as a sauna.
– Next to both BBQ areas is a cedar-clad plunge pool, powered and filtered with its own water supply.
– The lawns are manicured with a mature berm of shrubs and trees growing around the perimeter of the entire property.
– On the south side of the garden, there is a 2-meter-high block wall, capped and plastered. In front of the wall, laurel hedging is planted to give a soft feel while maintaining security for garden pets.
– A 2.4-meter-high security fence is located behind the mature berm on the north and east sides of the garden.
– A rain and mains water irrigation system runs around the gardens perimeter to keep the shrubs and plants watered during summer.
