Below this, the ‘Lovers Walk’ leads to a most attractive bath house pleasantly positioned at the head of a gravelled beach on the inlet. Above the garden is a stone farmstead that includes a large stone barn, once a cow byre plus two other smaller barns. Nearby is a two-storey granary tower. The upper floor used now used as a studio office. In this area is also a historic circa 4,000-year-old twin chamber megalithic tomb, known as the tomb of the legendary lovers Dermot and Grainne.

Accessible from both the water and by road the location of Ross House is exceptional. The picturesque bustling coastal towns of Newport and Westport are each less than 15-minutes driving distance. By power boat, Mayo Sailing Club, Rosmoney and Westport harbour can be accessed in circa 15 minutes.
